Rob Newton started his career with the BBC, joining as one of their trainees. After successfully completing his apprenticeship, he joined Visions in 1989 and became a Technical Director in 1999, Rob has been instrumental in ensuring Visions remained at the forefront of the introduction of new technology. Rob was responsible for the design and launch of the first HD truck into the OB market at the end of 2001 which enabled Visions to tender successfully for the English Premier League HD coverage for Sky in 2004, a contract that has subsequently been constantly renewed. Rob is highly sought-after for his advice and input on numerous technical projects which have included the provision of a fly-pack solution in 2006 for the Asian Games and creating solutions for the build of Gemini, a two-truck HD solution for the premier league in 2010. Rob also provided innovative solutions to aid the win of the BBC host coverage for Wimbledon in 2013 and designed and built five new trucks for NEP United Kingdom, four of which are 4K quality. He has won two awards in his broadcasting career. One being an “Inspirational Leader” award and the other “Presidents Award for Outstanding Achievement.” Rob is also a member of Mensa, the largest and oldest high IQ society non-profit organization. Rob is never happier than when outdoors either skiing, riding his motorbike or sailing. He also enjoys growing various vegetables, particularly chilies.
